Computing and Engineering Intelligent Systems
The Intelligent Systems Research Centre (ISRC) is a major research unit within the Faculty of Computing and Engineering and is located at the Magee campus in the north west of Ireland. The ISRC is dedicated to the creation of intelligent computational systems, taking inspiration from, and learning from, biology and neuroscience. The work of the Centre is directed at achieving a greater understanding of biological signal processing and the ranslation of critical aspects of that knowledge into computational systems that are capable of learning, evolving, adapting, self-organising and communicating effectively with humans and other machines. The activities of the Centre are focused on research into computational intelligence and include work on perception, reasoning, cognitive robotics, brain-computer, interfacing, intelligent embedded systems, intelligent wireless sensor networks, intelligence in serious computer games, self-repairing hardware and software, and intelligent multimedia. The ISRC has recently been successful in a proposal to develop a Computational Neuroscience Research Team in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin’s Institute of Neuroscience under the Northern Ireland Department for Employment and Learning Cross-Border Research and Development Programme. We therefore now wish to expand our research team by the following appointments.
