Software Engineers/ Software Developers required from graduate to senior level at one of the world's leading communications and telephony technology companies. They are a strategic technology supplier to customers ranging from well established giants such as Microsoft, Cisco, AT&T, to new start-ups full of potential. They not only provide customers with world-class products and services but are also recognised for providing employees with an excellent work environment and outstanding benefits. This can be confirmed by the fact that they were placed in the top ten for the fourth consecutive year in The Sunday Times ‘100 Best Companies To Work For'.Their success is based on their ability (and dedication) to recruit outstandingly talented individuals, and train and develop them to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
Started in 1981, they have grown from the seven founders to over 360 people, retaining the flexibility and vibrancy of a small organisation.Their main office is in North London with offices also in Chester, Edinburgh, San Francisco and WashingtonDC.They are a remarkably stable and profitable organisation, with both revenue and profit increasing in every year since the company was formed.
My client has built its success on an unrivalled ability to develop high-quality communications software that is used worldwide as a core element of the Internet Protocol (IP) and telecommunications revolution.Their approach to software development involves disciplined project management and execution, encouragement of imaginative and creative ideas and solutions as well as exceptional team spirit and productivity. Thus, while every project is managed using the same core disciplines and processes, each project team and its team members have freedom and responsibility to exercise their minds and contribute in the broadest possible way, to help deliver world-class solutions.
As a Software Engineer you will be part of a team, and will be given responsibility for a variety of tasks within a full software development lifecycle including:
•drawing up product specifications
•product or component architecture
•prototyping new solutions or ideas
•code development and unit testing of the product
•integration and system testing of the final solution.
Team projects may last for anything from a few weeks, to many months, and will typically involve team sizes of 3-6 engineers working together with a project manager.Team members may go on to support the product at customer sites, including providing training and support for live systems.
Raw talent is the key requirement.Whether you are about to graduate or complete a PhD, are considering your next career move from your “first job”, or have many years of industry experience and need a fresh challenge; my client can provide the environment for you to develop and advance your career in the direction you desire.
As well as having an outstanding academic background (As at A level or equivalent together with a 1st Class or Upper Second degree from a top tier university), you will have the following skills:
•good problem-solving abilities
•a versatile and creative mind
•self-motivation, energy and discipline
•good communication skills
•an ability to enjoy yourself!
Their focus on education, training and mentoring means that, even as a new graduate with little software engineering experience, you can quickly become a proficient and productive member of their team.Alternatively, as an experienced engineer, you will have software engineering skills – e.g. in programming languages such as C, C++ or Java, operating systems such as Linux or Solaris, or expertise in web development tools or communications protocols - that can immediately be applied to a range of software engineering projects.
